Required Application Materials
Your completed admissions package must include the items listed and explained below. Please remember that the Admissions Committee will not review your application until all required items have been received by IUJ. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

1. Completed Application Form
2. Research Plan
3. Essay
4. College Certificates (from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended)
5. Two Recommendation Letters
6. Application Fee & Application Fee Form
7. Photograph(s)
8. TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC score report
9. Certificate of Alien Registration (Domestic Applicants Only)
10. Letter attesting to academic research experience (If applicable)


Mailing Instructions
  • All application materials must be received by IUJ on or before the appropriate application deadlines. (Please consult the "Admission Schedules" carefully.) Late applications will not be considered.
  • We will not return any documents nor application fees once submitted.
  • Application documents sent by Fax or E-mail are not accepted.
  • Be sure to indicate the mailing status of all your application materials on the "APPLICATION CHECKLIST" of the paper-based application or "MAILED ITEMS SECTION" on the online application system.
  • Please do not send any documents/materials which are not required.
  • It is the applicant's responsibility to request all supporting documents early enough to meet the designated deadline.
  • Only when circumstances require, official College Certificates and/or recommendations may be sent directly to IUJ from the Registrar and/or recommender.
  • We strongly recommend that you make a photocopy of your application, research plan and essay for your files.

TOEFL* or IELTS** Score Report
An official TOEFL or IELTS (the Academic Module must be chosen) score report is required.

You may also submit an official TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication) score certificate. However, we strongly recommend you to take a TOEFL or IELTS test. No other test scores or certificates regarding the applicantfs English language proficiency are acceptable as substitutes.


The official TOEFL or IELTS score must be sent directly to IUJ from ETS or the British Council (or an IELTS test center) by the application deadline.
IUJfs ETS Institution Code for score reporting is 0712. Department Code is not necessary.
As for a TOEIC, you may send an original score certificate directly to IUJ along with other required application materials in one package.

In principle, the test scores are only valid for two years. Your TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC test date must be indicated on the "APPLICATION CHECKLIST" of the paper-based application or "MATERIALS SECTION" on the online application system. .

You must not take or register for the tests scheduled on/after the appropriate application deadline for admission. (See "Admission Schedules") It is your responsibility to submit an official test score report by the designated deadline.

Notes:
(1) Exemption Policy
Only those who have received their English-medium formal education for more than 4 years, including their undergraduate program, in one of the following countries are exempt from submitting a TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC score report: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, the UK, and the USA

(2) Priority will be given in the admissions process to applicants who have TOEFL total scores of at least 550 for the paper-based exam, 213 for the computer-based exam, or 80 for the new Internet-based exam.
The minimum Overall IELTS Band Score for admission to IUJ is 6.5.
As for a TOEIC, applicants are strongly encouraged to attain a score of 800 or above.



Letter attesting to academic research experience (If applicable)
Those who are applying to IUJ under the Minimum Qualifications for Admission Category (2) must submit a letter written by an official at the academic institution where the research was conducted. The letter must include 1) the title or topic of research, 2) a summary of the research, and 3) the specific time period during which research was conducted.
