| The Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) at IUJ is happy to invite applications from qualified candidates for the Environmental Policy Program (EPP). Please prepare your application carefully, following all the instructions given below. Please remember that your application is not reviewed until you submit all required application documents. |
| ELIGIBILITY |
 |
IUJ considers a student who satisfies all the following requirements to be an eligible applicant for EPP:
- A student who is a citizen of any of the following countries:
Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam
- A student who holds a bachelorfs degree and is currently pursuing graduate studies in a university in the following countries:
Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, India, or New Zealand
- A student who is of age 22 or above
- A student whose good academic performance in his/her home university is recognized
- A student who has keen interest in environmental issues and has strong motivation for learning the related issues
- A student who has good command of English in order to take graduate courses in English
Note: Former Japanese Government Scholarship Recipients may not apply for this program. |

Eligible applicants described above will be reviewed on the basis of the following criteria:
- Well-defined motivation to pursue EPP studies
- Demonstrated scholastic achievement at the undergraduate level

The GSIR will admit up to 14 students who will be sponsored by JASSO for EPP.
Student status at IUJ:
Admitted students will be given gExchange Studenth status after consultation with their home universities.

| APPLICATION DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED |

A student who would like to apply for EPP must submit the documents listed below. All required items have to be received by the Office of Academic Affairs on or before May 31, 2010. (Documents submitted by E-mail are not acceptable.)
1. Completed Application Form with Enclosed Letter of Consent
The Letter of Consent must be filled out by an authorized person in the university where you are currently attending.
2. College Certificates
| a. | Official transcript (certificate of academic records) listing all courses/subjects taken and corresponding grades from all undergraduate schools attended |
| b. | An official statement attesting to current enrollment in a graduate program |

The official college certificates must be written in English or accompanied with a certified English translation. |

3. TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC Score Report
An official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score, taken within two years of the date of application is required. The official TOEFL or IELTS score must be sent directly to IUJ from the ETS or the British council (or an IELTS test center) by the application deadline. IUJfs ETS Institution code for score reporting is 0712. A Department Code is not necessary. You may also submit an official TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication) score certificate. In that case, you are required to send the original score certificate directly to IUJ along with other required application materials in one package.
Only those who have received a formal English-medium education for more than 4 years, including their undergraduate program, in one of the following countries are exempt from submitting a TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC score report: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, the UK, and the USA
Priority will be given in the admissions process to applicants who have TOEFL total scores of at least 500 for the paper-based exam, 173 for the computer-based exam, or 61 for the new Internet-based exam. The minimum Overall IELTS Band Score for admission to EPP is 6.0. As for a TOEIC, applicants are strongly encouraged to attain a score of 600 or above.

4. Two photos (4 cm X 3 cm) One is to be attached on the first page of the application form.
5. Letter of motivation Write a short essay on your motivation for applying to EPP. Please include answers to each of the following two questions: | |
| 1) | How do you expect your education at IUJ to contribute to expanding the scope of your personal career and/or goals? |
| 2) | How do you think your education at IUJ will enhance your possible contributions to environmental problems of your country or the world? |
| The essay must be typewritten in English, about two pages long (double-spaced), and prepared without the assistance of any other person.
Application materials and supporting documents become the property of IUJ and will not be returned under any circumstances.
PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
All personal information that IUJ obtains from applicants will be used solely for the purpose of admission screening and the student registration process in subsequent admission procedures. All application information and supporting documents provided by applicants will remain confidential and will not be released to the third party without the prior permission of the applicants.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
The faculty will consider and decide whether to admit or reject an applicant based on the documents submitted. Individual notification of screening results for both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be sent. Instructions for admission procedures, including the visa application process, will be sent to each successful applicant along with an official LETTER OF ADMISSION in late June. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that all required procedures are completed in time for their admission in October.
Separately from the individual admission procedures, IUJ will communicate with the home university of each successful applicant in order to confirm the name of the authorized person in each home university and to define the responsibility of home/host universities in terms of sending/accepting a student. This process ensures that a student can study at IUJ as an exchange student, and can return to his/her home university immediately after the completion of EPP to pursue his/her degree requirement at the home university.
